Anna Rhodes is 29 and coming back to the coast of North Carolina for the first time since she was 17. Her past — a tumultuous relationship with her father, and losing a friend in a mass shooting — haunts her at every turn. When she returns to North Carolina to continue the great work of her career — creating a grant-funded art therapy program in schools to reduce the chance of school shootings in the future — she must confront her demons. If she fails, she risks the ruination of her career’s work, and the ghosts of her past swallowing all that’s left of her. When she runs into Ellis, her first love, she must come to terms with once again being in the gaze of someone who knows everything.
